I've had an invitation to a fancy dress party next month for a friend's birthday. It should be a suitably fun and raucous affair The theme is 'come as a song title' so, knowing how all you Omleteers always have lots of good ideas, I thought I'd ask for your help for costume suggestions.

I think there's likely to be more than one or two ladies in red and pretty women, so I'm trying to avoid anything too obvious like that, oh and it's going to be held in a potentially chilly village hall, so I don't think an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini would be a good idea!

Ah yes, I went to one of these a few years back.

As Hubby & I loath all things fancy dress,we just got a couple of T shirts made with MONDAY on the front

Best one on that theme I ever saw was my mates dad who wore a winged collar, cravat, waistcoat, and tucked his trousers into knee socks, ruffled up his hair and tied a bap to his head with ribbon........ get it?...

How about "Baggy Trousers", just a cheap pair a few sizes to big, that would be an easy option. If you feel more daring how about "Prince Charming"

On a simlarly themed evening, the winning entry went to a lady who had simply got a t shirt wih the previous day's date on it - "Yesterday!" I was going to go as Lady in Red but, like you , thought that that was a bit passe. Didn't do much better but went as "Devil Woman." Same dress with a pair of horns!

 

Can't remember any more but will have a thunk!

You could go dressed as a tree with a big yellow ribbon round it!

 

Shame it's not before christmas or you could wear mistletoe on your head and carry a bottle of wine!
