chicken bark
Oh bless! look like they're having a great time. Are they Cayuga?Becky x Yes they are. I've had them since September so no eggs yet but they sound like girls to me (quacks not hissing) so fingers crossed I should get some black eggs sometime soon. I feel sorry that when the weather has been bad they have had to make do with a bucket of water, but it does make them appreciate a good splash about when they can get one! HENthusiastic
They look very pleased with their pond. Cayaga's are next on my list. Lovely looking girls.
chicken bark
I was cleaning them out this morning and found 3 eggs! Not sure if it is all of them laying or one - it has been about 5 days since I last cleaned their house out and you can't see the eggs unless you actually stick your head through the door. I am so happy (this is on the back of me just ordering a Kindle too so I'm having a great day ) They can't be a really really pure version of Cayuga as the eggs are not black but they are varying shades of grey - one is a quite dark slate grey. Not sure if the different shades indicate different layers? I can feel those winter blues evaporate away now.
karlotta
Ooh! Congrats on the eggies! I've had eggs from my lot for the first time this week (two regular sized and a teeny weeny one!). Must be spring on the way!
tom123
Congrats on the eggs The colour can vary from bird to bird and from month to month so it could get darker throughout the year.
