Poached Egg

OH egg confusion

Recommended Posts

Great excitement yesterday - OH sent me a text to say one of the new girls had laid :D but he wasn't sure who.

I was left wondering if the confusion was between the Dutch bantam and the pekin - easy I thought, the DB's should be white and tiny, or between the pekin and Orpy? This could be harder if the Orpy laid a very small first egg.

When I got home I saw a 59g egg! Really dear? I'm not saying a pekin couldn't, but...

Anyway well done to Louise, I'm not surprised she was so chatty!

I see nothing wrong in taking photos and posting them - after all the chooks broadcast their egg news loudly enough to their peers! We still record & weigh all of the eggs when we're home..

Lewis - yes they are living together quite happily in their temporary accomodation. We got them at the same time from the breeder, although they hadn't been in runs/field together. We kept a good eye on them & luckily are fine#.

Have you had any trouble or do yours only FR together? I seem to recall some lovely photos with biggies & littlies

Thats 8) At least they all get on together! :D

Yep, mine all live together in the WIR except for the 3 cockerels, who were in the (green eglu) ... which is the little + large photo

They all FR'd together though most days and were fine after the first 5 mins of chasing, but thats the boys for you

Really want a brahma but didn't know about it with the pekin, although brahma's (esp boys) are the softest things ever!:lol:

I had a couple of Brahma eggs in the incy (with a load of others) last year but the incy played up and nothing came of any of them :(

Have plans to breed this year but mebbe put some other eggs in with them, can't have too many in the WIR though! Think I'd rather use a broody again so will have to wait for one, sure it won't be long

Told Mother earlier about my breeding plans + that I was getting another cockerel for a few weeks and she was surprisingly fine and said she was looking forward to it!
