marmite+toast Posted January 26, 2011 Share Posted January 26, 2011 I happened to glance out of the window this morning to see a black shape lying prone in the chicken run. It was my poor Marmite, she was her side, wings spread out, glassy eyed and gasping for breath, I tried to stand her up but she couldn't support herself, or even hold up her head, checked her over for any obvious injuries but could see none. From this I concluded she had got some kind of serious illness and was not long for this world. As she seemed to be in distress I called my local vets, with the intention of having her put to sleep They couldn't see her til later in the day, so I put her in the nesting box where I thought sh'd be poor comfortable, and whizzed off to an appopintment. Imagine my shock on my return to not find her passed away, but charging round the run without a care in the world! Is this some weird chicken thing that us newbies don't know about or should I expect bad news tomorrow? Would really appreciate some advice as the whole family is so worried. quickcluck Posted January 26, 2011 Share Posted January 26, 2011 I found my Sweetie like that last weekend I brought her in and gave her some nutri drops and syringed some water in her, left her in a box overnight and hey presto - charging chicken!
