I just looked at them in the eglu and they are still wet, but not wet through though. They have all huddled together and I have shut the door. Chortle Chook Posted February 10, 2011 Share Posted February 10, 2011 I don't think it is going to freeze tonight so I'm sure your wet chooks will be fine. Also, though their top feathers may be pretty soggy, their under feathers are probably lovely, dry and toasty. If you are still worried you could get a sheet of absorbant kitchen paper towel and just put it over their backs, one at a time, and you'll be amazed how much water it soaks up. It is far more effective than a towel, if not as effective as a nice puff from the hair dryer, and only takes a few minutes to do. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I use paper kitchen towel as well, it gets the worse off and like others have said they can look really wet but the underneath feathers are dry. Try not to worry I am sure they will be fine. Hopefully they will calm down when they come into lay. Just checked, it's forecast to be 8C tonight here so not cold at all. Phew.
