Diana1
My two don't lay over winter. barnvelder and speckled sussex - shall I get two more young ones or shall I wait and catch the right time and let speckledy rose sit on a fertilized batch? OOh the dilemma. I know both require commitment and expense.

Cinnamon
If you have the space and the means of introducing them to your existing flock ,why not add a couple of hybrids, for year round eggs? More instant than hatching, plus there are no concerns that you may end up with cockerals.
Diana1
good idea - what would be your suggested hybrids?
Snowy
I try to add a couple of POL hybrids each summer so that we will have eggs through the winter. Any hybrids will do - if they are POL in October/November they should lay through. Last year I added 2 columbines, a whitestar and a ranger, they all layed over winter. Cinnamon
You could go for something with different coloured eggs than the ones you have now, maybe? Whitestars lay pure white huge eggs. Columbines/Skylines may lay green, blue or pastel. Have a look on the Medowsweet site,& see if there is an agent near to you I have just added 4 new Hybrids to my flock & they are all laying beautifully
