How Quickly Does Albendazole Work?

Hi all,

i woke up this morning to find one of my chickens sitting in the corner of the run. When she walked over I could see that she was over stretching both legs. I checked her joints and the all seem to be moving fine and she is not in pain when i did it. I have isolated her but have no idea what to do next? Could it be a calcium problem? They have plenty of grit though.

You need someone more experienced that me but have a feel of her tummy and check her vent. Is she eating and drinking, sitting hunched with eyes closed ? Tummies should not feel hard or full of fluid and her vent should be clean and not protruding.

I have checked this and cant feel anything. She is eating and drinking and is bright eyed, but just doesn't want to move about.

Could she have jumped off something high and sprained something? (Welcome to the forum, by the way .)

If she doesn't get any other symptoms rub her legs with arnica gel and keep her in a small pen. I did this with Honey who was limping and she was completely better after about 10 days

Think you might be right. I have just been out to check on her and she is scratching around but a little unsteady on her feet but alot better than earlier.

hi welcome i would see how she gets on today, thats a good idea with the arnica gel. Let us know how she gets on?

She is fine now thanks must have been a strain or something.

Horsey shops sell arnica gel.

 

I use comfrey cream for muscle strains too. Also from horsey shops.
