Snowy
Well we have been admiring these for a while now and thanks to a small inheritance, have finally treated ourselves to one! It arrived this morning so I have packed and unpacked it and had a good look at all the recipes. Now all we need is some nice weather to go camping and try it out! Imagine roast dinners, cakes, bread and scones whilst camping! I can't wait! 8) Cobb UK We met some friends with one last year and they had roasted a joint of beef on it - it was fantastic. Chickvic
Wow - what do you put in it to cook with? Just normal charcoal? May be persuaded to buy one - we love our roast dinners!
Tiggy
WOW that looks great
Snowy
You can use 6 - 8 ordinary briquettes, but then have the normal wait of about 30 minutes before you can cook on it. Or you can buy Cobblestones - 4 minutes to cooking time, and 2 hours roasting from one stone! They are quite expensive though. I bought a supply with the cobb, but will try to use normal briquettes wherever possible! I also like the idea of being able to cook pizzas whilst away, the one food the kids are guaranteed to eat

Groovychook
I've wanted one of these for ages- ever since I saw the Hairy Bikers using one! I've been put off by the price of the cobblestones... I didn't realise you could use ordinary briquettes Can't wait to hear how you get on with it! Snowy
They are not cheap! Hence our waiting to buy one - OH has wanted one since he first saw it in use If you go to cobb-bbq.co.uk and click on 'products' the prices are there. If you do get one, buy it as a bundle - if you start adding things afterwards, they are very expensive individually, another reason why we waited until we could afford the combo pack! We figured it was worth it because when camping, OH does most of the cooking and is happiest when barbying, so it will certainly see a lot of use. I like the idea that once lit, the cobb can be brought inside and used on a table top as it stays cool to touch.
Lesley
It's been a lovely day today Snowy - have you used it? My son and his friends have barbecues all year round
Snowy
Noooo! It is OH's toy and he didn't get in from work until 6.30! He is unpacking it and admiring it right now (and reading the recipe book!) It may get some use this weekend though I wouldn't recommend buying the recipe book unless it already comes as part of a bundle. It is very much geared towards the South African customer and has some lovely recipes for things like ostrich fillets and springbok stew! chickric
Did you buy it from the site linked to, and if so what was the service like? (not that I'm weakening or anything)

Chickvic
Guess who's ordering one today? We'll need to practise at home first of course
Snowy
Talk about easily persuaded! If you go onto the UKCampsite forum and do a search for 'Cobb' you will be able to read hundreds of reviews!
Chickvic
He was so impressed with the thought of roasting meat - didn't take much persuading at all!
Snowy
Yes thats what impressed my husband It is worth reading the reviews on UKCS though as there seems to be a knack to successful cooking with them. Some actions make it lose heat and then things don't cook properly Oh well, will be fun experimenting!
chickric
Ordered I went with the limited time special offer so we have all the bits as some of them seem quite expensive to buy on their own
fluffyfeet
What a brilliant bit of kit Snowy - soooooooo Just had a swizz at the site - just for research purposes of course - and although the initial outlay is quite a bit, if it saves having to use pub's to have a 'proper' dinner when camping, it would soon pay for itself - and that is the line I will keep repeating to myself when I've saved enough pennies and want to order one!!. I keep looking at Kindles as well now - the Omlet forum has a lot to answer for Dawn xx
chickric
Ours has just arrived . Ordered it on Friday, they tried to deliver on Monday but no one was in so we re-arranged delivery for today, excellent service Will be having a proper look later but Chickvic is already impressed that it all fits in one nice neat bag.
