Hi folks i'm pleased to say that after about 4 months of tlc Belle is fighting fit again and the vet has discharged her. He has been giving her Tiamutin. Now we've stopped the medication how long do we have to wait before we can eat the eggs again?

I know this seems a bit of a daft question but why can't you eat the eggs once a hen has finished her medicine ?

I know there will be traces of medicine in the egg but is it really as serious as it sounds ?

Like you say it's not known how long it takes to excrete it from the body. My vet said after Baytril you should never eat the eggs (because it's unknown) but she says she eats them after 3 weeks. A freind has been told 6 weeks.

I waited the 3 weeks

My frizzle Fifi has just started a course of Baytril for an ear infection. I'll leave it three weeks till we eat her eggs again.
