Mandy
Hi, We have had two chickens for about a year now, last weekend we decided to add another two. We have a 10 ft x 10 ft run with the chicken coop on a shelf a couple of feet above the floor. The problems we are having are: The established chickens won't allow the two new ones onto the ground level, they chase them up the ladder and peck them as a team. Thus two older chickens attacking one new ones. They also will not allow the smaller of the two new chickens to go into the coop at night. I have to put it away. There does not seem to be any problems once they are shut away though. Any ideas would be greatly received. poppy ben grace
Hi we had the same thing happen to our newbies last year. I seem to remember they spent the first 2 weeks living on top of the coop roof as the others just kept attacking them. I hung some feeders and drinkers up there for them and eventually they became accepted but it did take a few weeks. I know its awful to watch and you just want to rescue them but it will get better, good luck with it all
Plum
Perhaps not old enough to integrate yet. When they start getting towards laying they get more greedy and feisty and can hold thier own. Perhaps it would help to seperate them for a bit and try again.
