Handheld hoovers - recommendations?

Recommended Posts

I need the Omlet Consumer Group's advice :D .

I'm looking for a small handheld hoover - mainly for little jobs like the bathroom and getting the doghair tumbleweed  from under the beds (the big hoover is such a faff to get out just for that). Might use it on the car too but that'll not be its main job.

I'm looking at this Black and Decker one which has great reviews (apart from cleaning the filter :? ).

Any recommendations :D ?

Yes buy a dyson!!! I know they are so much more expensive but worth every penny IMHO.

We had a black and decker before (although not the model you have pointed out) the suction compared to the dyson is just not comparable, and the battery life faded after not long so it had to constantly be on charge and then very quickly ran out. Using the hand held dyson is like using a proper hoover and we have had ours for a few years now and have not noticed the battery life diminish. We even use it to clear up ash from the fire and rayburn. And as you'll see from other posts on here Dyson customer service is second to none too.

I'd even go as far as to say that from my experience other brands are a false economy. (No I dont work for Dyson)

I have this one CLICK, got it after Chicvic gave away our expensive Vax as we now have no carpet  and I needed to clean the car, I use it in the house with this CLICK AGAIN, no problems with the battery running out. I did look at the Dyson but it was too expensive and the battery life was only about 5-10 mins.

PS it was actually cheaper in B&Q

I love my Dyson handheld, yes the battery doesn't last long but it's usually enough to hoover out the car or do the stairs etc :D The only downside is if DH uses it and doesn't put it back on charge and then the battery runs out halway through a job! :(

I also have a swivel sweeper that I got from QVC which is a mini electric carpet sweeper but is amazingly light and effective, my latest version has a "Knee" joint so the handle bends backwards halfway down and goes under furniture so I can clean whilst standing up. The swivel sweeper was the only thing my mum could use as she was a wheelchair user, due to severe arthritis and had very weak hands.

Thanks for the advice, everyone :D .

Although I love Dysons, I really couldn't justify the expense just to hoover my newly decorated bathroom (where the novelty of cleaning it daily will no doubt soon wear off  ).

I ended up getting this Draper Handheld Vacuum which on first use seems ideal. I wouldn't want to hoover whole rooms with it but for a tiny area, it's just the ticket :D .
