Christmas.. courtesy of Omlet's deal of the week

Recommended Posts

I've bought my first Christmas present.

A shiny eglu from Omlet's deal of the week for Ma and Pa in law who are going to mind our chooks while we sell/rent/buy/move........It may be for a while so it will be by way of a thank you.

I shall put some banties in it for them :D

PS. How many banties in an eglu with one run extension?

I have 5 in an eglu with one extension - but they can roam in a 25m netting pen as well. Before I had the pen they used to feather peck so if you are restricted to the run all the time I'd go for less. Although being able to let them out just once or twice a week seems to be enough - which is what happens if someone looks after them in my absence.

I don't want to leave the Lakes but I want some land and more chooks and more bees and maybe some sheep and hubby is taking early retirement and he needs something to do and it all costs too much here..........

I love this house but have been infected with morehens disease as well as moreotherthingslikebeesandsheep plague :lol:

I don't know what your budget is OSH, but there are some surprising bargains to be had if you widen your search slightly. We're inside the LDNPA but if you go just a few miles outside, prices drop considerably. And if you don't mind buying a "project", then Cumbria is your lobster (to misquote Delboy!)

There were a couple of three bed detached bungalows at Underhill (a couple of miles from Millom), one in need of a lot of tlc with 8 acres and another fully refurbed with 5 acres - both around the £350k mark (but they must have gone as they aren't listed now). I've just had a quick search and there's this one at Bootle - the location is a bit out of the way, but a three bed farmhouse with barn/outbuildings and 13 acres for £415k might make up for that. :?

Oh thanks so much for looking.

Less than that though.

We looked at the station master's house in Eskdale ( I love it there and we have camped at Boot many times....good pubs too)......lovely to see Ratty at the bottom of the garden but sadly that garden was too small and near neighbours would have really "loved" our cockerel :oops:

We want to buy a small flat in Kendal to rent out for income as well.

Never mind, hubby is one of eight and six are in Cumbria so we can holiday here :D

I love Eskdale too, especially Ratty. It's great when nephews or neices come to stay because I have an excuse to take them for a ride on it. My dad and mother in law got taken for a trip too!

I'm sure the right thing will come up OSH and I've no doubt it will all be worth it when you get there. :)
