My little black cockerel has gone all quiet and seems to have become a bit of a loner but only in the last week. He live with 6 young ladies so should be on top of the world. My husband came home to find his one eye closed. We bathed it and put him in solitary confinement. We have checked him again and he he is getting a build up of mucus ish type stuff in his eye. Any ideas please? I changed the whole shed to wood shavings on Saturday but his hutch is still full of straw. I also used poultry shield and diatom.

I would take him to the vet if I were you.

Eye infections are awful to deal with yourself, and can cause many other problems, I'd be off to the vet ASAP, as they have far better info and medication.
