Chucky Mama
I am thinking of buying a PS3 for myself and DH to have in our room. We used to love playing games like Simon the Scorcerer, Monkey Island and the old style 'point and click' games. I have looked at the games available and am struggling to find something that doesn't involve war or shooting people We are not really interested in Simms type things or Mario type games. Any tips on good games along the lines of mystery/problem solving? Do they exist anymore?
bluekarin
we have a PS3 and it doesn't seem to have many games that aren't shooter type ones. We do have Big Little Planet which is fun, and has a certain amount of problem solving. You can play it alone or with another person. We also have a skater one, but there is a certain amount of beating people up in that one. Unless it's just my DS who does this The reason we got one was because our old dvd player died and we wanted something that would play dvds and music, and with the PS3 we can also, if we every get any, play blueray films. Just had a look at the PS site and they have these http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/games/ games which are puzzle ones. A lot of games you can download straight to the console. Plus, if you use Lovefilm, you can get that straight to your PS3 as well. Not tried it, but it does look a great idea.
chickric
Monkey Island is available on Wiiware (downloadable software for the Wii ). There's much more to the Wii than Mario with lots of puzzle type games, although there is a lot of 'shovel-ware' to avoid. I would have a look at the different format's magazines to see what types of games are available.. For pure mystery/puzzle solving you can't beat the Professor Latyon games on DS Not affiliated to Nintendo at all but am biased as we have a Wii and love it Sorry, that doesn't help with PS3 games does it
Chucky Mama
Maybe I should pinch the children's Wii - or get another one
bluekarin
we have a Wii as well, and the kids play that mostly. They love Mario Kart, Wii party and Wii play. It is much more of a family friendly games console, whereas PS3 is for da boyz IMHO
craftyhunnypie
I agree. I was in Game store at weekend - loads of stuff I'd like for my Wii. I also can't be done with fighting or games where you just jump & dodge. I love puzzles, problem solving & exploring mission type games.
