Ive wormed my chickens, ive checked for mites, ive checked for fleas ive done everything i can think of. Can it just be in a chickens nature to do this? Not one of my other hens has this problem and i would really just like to have my betty looking good again, pooey knickers sure isnt a good look. Any ideas? Poached Egg Posted April 3, 2011 Share Posted April 3, 2011 We find that our goldlaced Orp gets a bit mucky in that area(more so that our hybrids)just from the nature of her fluffy knickers!. So she gets the occasional bath when it becomes necessary-she seems to like it&certainly doesnt make a fuss. if her health is good otherwise i suspect she is ok. I use Ivermectin for worming and have used it lots in the past and has worked everytime. She has had a bit of a bathe this evening as there was quite a large clump forming. You know what it's like, once one bit sticks, it builds up quite quickly, so if you've ruled out potential problems, it's a good way to avoid it. This was following a few days of sloppy poops, and dirty knickers. We did clip her bum to make her easier to wash with kids shampoo. Grit is also important, and helps digestion. On other forums ivermectin has been very well regarded and as far as i can tell i agree, up until the point that i cant currently prove she has no worms in her despite showing no signs she does...
