Take part in study on PFAS 'forever chemicals' in eggs

Got a LF Salmon Faverolle a few weeks ago, she had come from a muddy home and although her top feathers looked clean she was a bit muddy and pooey in her under bits. So I carted her off into the house, sat her in the sink in a bowl of baby shampoo and set to work s"Ooops, word censored!"ing her under feathers clean. Not the most pleasant of experiences but she stayed calm and seemed to nod off during the blow dry. Bless her - she is not fully clean but much better so hopefully next time she poos it will miss the build up.

 

At the back of my mind was fly strike - I thought I'd better do it before the flies came out in force.

oh well done. there is something truly vile about washing dirty chicken bottoms - I find holding bird at arm's length outdoors, averting head and pouring copious amounts of water is the only way!!
