sjp
hyrids are sex as day olds at the hatchery. so are all female when sent out to point of sale retailers. you do sometime get the odd male slip through. very few places get hybrids as day old chicks most tend to get them at about 14+ weeks old that way they don't have to feed them so long
Egluntyne
I'm pretty sure that Jody only sells hybrids from point of lay. I've only ever seen younger pure breeds there.
percy049
All hybrids are sexed at day olds, but like sjp said, some do slip through. At POL though, you should be able to tell them apart. Anyway, it is very rare some slip through
Patricia W
You could always ask if they'll take any boys back and swop for a girl. In my experience, reputable places always do this.
Redwing
Most pure breeds can be accurately sexed by 6-8 weeks There are a few such as Araucanas that keep you guessing for longer but anyone reputable selling a POL hen should be sure of its sex, any that slip through should be a pure accident
