I thought this was supposed to be the time of year when chickens are in full egg production - however our four have almost stopped completely!

We are getting about 2 eggs per week at the moment - and thats between the lot of them. At the weekend we also got one very small elongated egg and a softie.

They all appear to be in good health. They are not noticeably moulting, except for one is a bit bare around her vent. They are not particularly broody - sitting a bit longer than usual, but that could just be that they are hoping to lay something!

They are getting organic layers pellets, free ranging all day and not getting much in the way of treats/s"Ooops, word censored!"s.

Any ideas?

We even had to *buy* eggs last weekend - a bit embarrassing really!!

I would worm them with Flubenvet if they haven't been done within the last 3-4 months. Make sure there is plenty of fresh drinking water available and ensure they are taking in a decent amount of pellets or mash - you may have to reduce their free ranging a little to achieve this.

Thanks for the suggestion - come to think of it they must be due..

I have only every used Verm-X in the past, but I have seen Flubenvet mentioned here before. Where do I buy it from?

Are there any other signs of worms that I should look for?

I have been keeping them in until at least 9am recently (instead of letting them out about 7am) to make sure they eat pellets before they go out.
