What is the easiest way to introduce new chickens to an existing flock?

Looking good! I have written down a few plant names as I always go blank when I go to the garden centre I really like foxgloves and other cottage garden type tall flowers (delphiniums, gladioli etc) so need to get some into my garden. I am going to keep an eye out for Spiraea snowmound, Leptospermum rubinette and eryngium planum, so thank you for the names

how's everyone getting on? mine is doing really well, once I have recharged the camera I will take more pix - it's really interesting (for me at least!!) to look back at these photos just a short time ago...

 

nothing has died (yet); some stuff is growing faster than others. the poppies I planted have come up in one clump, but I will leave those and let them do their thing and hopefully self-seed. the nigella is better in terms of location etc but seems very tiny still. I LOATHE the aldi fuchsias, so they can come out at the end of the summer! MIL gave me some cosmos which are filling the gaps nicely. and the eryngiums are now lying on the ground - think I will stake them, although that annoys me because I thought they'd be more robust....

Glad to hear your border is doing well - look forward to seeing photos .

 

I'm really pleased with the progress in my new front garden . The pansies are fantastic and all the shrubs are really getting going . People I don't know are always stopping for a chat about it when I'm out weeding, which is lovely .

Yes, it's a Salvia East Friesland (and that's ES before his 6th year ball ).

Ooh gosh, pretty borders. I remember we used to have them!

So far the top of the garden is being reclaimed (apart from the occasional break in). The other day I was weeding up the top, Mini was broody so I brought her in with me - she sneaked back out through the netting and marched right back into the cube without so much as a glance at all the goodies she was missing while the others paced up and down wishing they could be in with me - and complaining loudly - probably because they are eyeing up my fuchsias!

They tend to dig up my foxgloves - but luckily the fenced off bit has a couple of young plants so next year should have a nice show. The rest of the garden is gradually being filled with sturdy shrubs and roses - the pretty cottage plants up near the house in safety. Slow process but I'm getting there.

Its working! It's looking beautiful! When you think back to it's think layer of snow earlier this year, its a bit different. I would love my front garden to look like that. It's getting there, if a tad slowly.
