Luvachicken
I wake my girls up at 7.15ish most days and whereas they used to be eager to come out, now they just pootle down sometime later, sometimes quite a lot later ( just like teenagers ) and then I wonder why I get up so early . Then when they are up they potter about for a few minutes and then sit down together, as if they've had a really hard day, and doze off for a while. Have they just retired early ? Or is something else wrong with them ?
stoice
Bless them. Maybe it's because the nights are shorter? Maybe they are ladies that brunch!
migsy
How old are they?
Henhathnofury
I have two new young girls and the contrast is really obvious. The old 'uns are in bed at 7 or just after and the two new ones just stand in the aviary sulking that they haven;t got anyone to play with! My old girls are over 2 years old now... Egluntyne
I'd give them a Basic Health Check and also worm them with Flubenvet if you haven't done so already.
Lavenders_Blue
My girls do quite a bit of sitting around this time of year. I often see one or more of them just sat down having a rest in the run. I wonder if it's because the temperature is warmer or the ground is warmer or just because the days are longer. There's certainly something different in the summer that makes them want to have a sit down, because I've never seen them do it in the winter! Luvachicken
Migsy, they are about 2 and a half. I got them when they were 14 weeks in Feb 2009. Today I gave them some broccoli and some corn and usually the corn gets wolfed down. They have eaten some but not all of it. They didn't seem that impressed with the broccoli either. I did let them out into the garden as a special treat and they really enjoyed that but when they finished they went back to their play area and sat down. Thanks Egluntyne, I will have a read of the health check page.
Luvachicken
Well i read the health check this afternoon and checked when I wormed them last which was 27th Feb so they are just about due, but I have noticed they haven't been eating that much the last couple of days, so how do I get them to eat the Flubenvet on the pellets if they aren't eating in the first place. Do they start to feel much better once they have some worming powder in them. I have wormed them every 3 mths so far and never found any worms. Can you see worms in their poo like you can see the white specks in dog doodoo ?
