emmastar Posted May 22, 2011 Share Posted May 22, 2011 Hi just trying to collect a few bits for when the chicks grow up a bit and wondering if these things can be given to them when they get a bit older along with there usual food Peanust sunflower seeds sunflower hearts niger seeds insect suet pellets apple suet pellets berry suet pellets peanut suet pellets them coconut halves with insect and seeds in I can get all these from work wih a nice discount so wondering if any are sutible for the ladies to have as treats ? Mollie333 Posted May 22, 2011 Share Posted May 22, 2011 (Do you mean peanuts?) - Not sure sunflower seeds - mine love them. sunflower hearts - again, love them. niger seeds- tried these + ended up giving them to wild birds instead! insect suet pellets - Never tried them. apple suet pellets - Never tried them. berry suet pellets - Never tried them. peanut suet pellets - Never tried them. them coconut halves with insect and seeds in - Wild birds ate it. My chooks didn't even look at the Niger seed and neither have the local birds. I don't think suet is recommended as it is too fattening for them. I'm sure they will go mad for mealworms! emmastar Posted May 22, 2011 Author Share Posted May 22, 2011 TY all for the info i will stock up on the bits they can eat im waiting for more offers on mealworms to start and stockpile them haha , I feed loas to the wild birds at the mo so always have most of the stuff in stock anyway ut just wanted to make sure i didnt give them things they carnt eat , I have brought a few metal bins for storing treats just trying to find what i can buy in advance , Im looking for local people i can get to know so i can get tips of them and some hands on with some adult chocks if i can , if any local people wouldnt mind.
