Atilla-the-hen
Hello all chicken people, (I dont mean that insultingly!) I have recently acquired 4 point of lay chickens, all of which are laying, except one, who seems a bit off. I was wondering if any of you recognise any of these symptoms in your own experience:-> > fluffed up feathers > not laying >slow in her movements > not eating as much as the others > loose poos > general malaise She is last in the pecking order, and Im not sure if that is the reason why she is like she is. There is no point in taking her to the vet because there are no avian vets where I live. I have spoken to the person I bought her off and she says it could be anything and she will perk up eventually, but shes been like this for 5 weeks now. Obviously its not contagious as the others are fine. I would be very grateful for anyone's advice.
Plum
That's a compliment not an insult Think the person you bought her off is wrong, there is obviously something wrong and she hasn't picked up straight away. If I was you I would start off by sending a dropping sample to Retfords for testing for worms, bacteria, etc., Link

Atilla-the-hen
No, in fact when I have checked on her at night, she is standing up while the others are sitting down. Thanks for your help, I will phone the woman I had her off again.
Ain't Nobody Here
Have you checked her for lice? That can make them feel a bit off. Check out this from the FAQs.
