Anyone else adopting ex-batts this weekend?

Recommended Posts

Having lost four of my gorgeous ex-batt girlies in the last couple of months, I'm on the list to adopt three(ish) more next Sunday from the Essex BHWT, and was wondering if anyone else is adopting from the same or another rescue next weekend?

Although I have four remaining ladies/little monsters, the garden just seems so empty and in need of more feathery mischief. This will be my fifth adoption and I'm still all excited about it  There really is no known cure for morehens once you've caught it :D . So many unknowns - exactly how many I'll be bringing home (three have become more before now), or just how sad a state they'll be in (they perk up really quickly once they discover unlimited food and water) or what they're going to be called (so many possibilities).

I had a word with the "big" girls about getting them some new friends - Sky reckons she's staying top-chook, Lola's going to teach the newbies to sing  , Mistletoe's looking forward to no longer being bottom of the pecking order and Berry would like another quiet gentle little girl that she can pal around with, as the other three are just thugs and she usually pootles around on her own.

Can hardly wait for next Sunday. Anyone else adopting very soon?

It's official, I'm on the list to collect at least three ex-batts from Jimmy's Farm this Sunday and I'm quite ridiculously excited

I've not been to Jimmy's before, so that will be fun in itself. Still not sure how many girlies might be coming my way and I'll be taking both carriers, just in case there are any little leftovers waiting to be scooped up. Need to acquire some mash from my friendly petfood shop and put the door on the run of the (cube green) and we're all ready :D

Anyone else adopting girls this weekend? From BHWT website it looks like lots of lucky little girls will be going to "proper" loving homes in the very near future :D

I've had my ex batts for about a month now. It is amazing how quickly they rehabilitate and become proper chickens. Mine love scratching around for bugs now and wandering all over the garden. They even run to me when they think there are some treats. They are fabulous little creature. Nice and calm too. :P Good luck with your adoptions!

Contrary to expectation (I think they were running a book on it at work  ) I did come back with only three new little ones this time :D.

Better go and update my signature to include them!
