Trying to figure out best/quickest way to sort out some weather protection for the soon up and running WIR

Can anyone tell me the sizes of the shades available for the cube/extension run etc and how many eylet holes they each have??..............I can always make more!!

it is approximately 58 inches in length and approx. 50 inchs wide, I have one A extension on mine, so i combined this with the blue funshade that is on offer at the moment and it has given me great coverage, with a small gap that's uncovered, but i still have the old shades to add and combine with them when the weather changes! they do look rather sassy! (and the old ones were suffering wear and tear but have lasted 4 years! and are still usable, i shall save them for the winter)

For really hot sunny gays I have bought reed garden screening in a roll. Usually comes in 4m rolls and either 1m or 2 m high. Quite easy to rig up attachments and really good at providing shade and allowing air to move freely so no 'hot greenhouse' effect.

Hope that helps :)

Actually, and I don't like to dis Omlet at all...I think their shades are overpriced and inadequately sized, and not really tough enough. A fox ripped mine to pieces in no time. If its weather proofing you are after, then either a heavy duty shower curtain, held on with bungees (my solution with my Classic run) or go to the Tarpaflex site, and get yourself a glass tarp off there...

When I get my new cube I will not bother with the omlet shades. I will possibly just get something made by a boat cover maker for the summer and use a glass tarp in the winter.

Hi

we've just bought coop covers from Cotswold Chickens and I can recommend them, they look similar to the omlet shades but are cheaper and come in three different sizes. We bought the 3ft by 6ft size x 2 for our omlet WIR and it fits perfectly. We are going to buy a couple more for the cube run for winter.

Let me know if you want to see a picture

Hope this helps

Hi

Theres a photo of our run here on our blog http://www.naughtychickens.co.uk/p/reviews.html (sorry I'm at work at the moment and all our photos are on the laptop).

I bought the 3ft by 9 ft (sorry gave you the wrong size in my previous post) but I think for winter I'm going to move those two the old run part and then buy the 3ft by 12ft for the WIR part so that it comes down further.

There are more straps for you to attach the cover to the run so its alot more secure and the bungees are better as you can clip them on in different positions.

Just checked out the new Omlet WIR shades. I'm disappointed to find they don't cover whole sides or whole roof! I'm currently using a 2m x 2.4m clear tarpaflex tarpauline we already had and it fits over the whole roof just folding over the outside edges really neatly and is attached by bungees. So looks just like the Omlet one but covers whole roof at half cost the equivalent 2 Omlet ones would be - and with no gap to allow drips! I'm going to stick with my plan to get a new tarpaflex one of 2m x 6m which will go over top and down both sides for the winter and again won't have any drippy gaps.
