For a couple of days now I have spotted little tiny cream coloured egg like things on some of the poo piles. Its not all poos and when I squash (sorry if tmi) there are none in the middle. Can I presume that flys have laid eggs post pooing, or do I have a different problem. I did check their vents & all looked ok to my untrained eye (not looked at their bottoms before). However, I have not noticed any flies around at all, let alone to lay eggs !!!! Help !!!!!!

Yes that definitely sounds like fly eggs.

Well basically trying to ascertain whether the little eggs have come from inside my hens or have arrived after the hens have pooed. I didn't know if it was a sign of worms, flystrike or just as simple as flies laying eggs on poos afterwards. (and I'm talking about poos done outside in garden) Does that help ?

The flies will have laid the eggs on the poo on the floor rather than on the chicken. This is different to flystrike where the lay the eggs in the pooey feathers, the maggots hatch out and eat their way in....

Rather sorry I read this post whilst eating my breakfast but that does sound like flies to me too. Not sure if I can shake the image of poo squashing now
