2009 Omlet cube and run for sale

Hi guys

 

How many chickens would you put in a cube? We have been given the chance of 2 chickens but we already have 6. Didn't know if that was going to be too many for our cube. Also, do you think that a 9x6 WIR with the underside of the cube as well is enough space for that lot.

 

Was thinking of making the WIR bigger at a later date, but think that might be moved forward somewhat.....

I think that 9x6 is around 5m², so considering it should be 1m² per bird, I think having 8 in there would be a bit too tight! Yes, get extending then grab the two new chickens

The cube holds loads in itself, I have 7 and its only half full, they always seem to scrunch up especially in winter.But the runs needs to be extended really

Cube will be fine for that many, I've got 6 and it's pretty spacious. I thought Omlet quoted 10 in cube to sleep.

 

The run will be pushing it, but it's down to the nature of your chickens to an extent whether they will live in peace. I had 3 hybrids and 4 bantams in my run bit bigger but not under cube space and it was just one too many, they just weren't getting on the same. No behaviour problems but I was always on edge seeing them chase eachother and it settled down when I lost one of my old girls

 

If you do it, I would make sure you have several perches, tables, logs and things for them to jump out of the way to get their own space.

Thanks for that. Yes thout our run would need extending. The 9x6 and the 4x3 under the cube would make it a bit tight. Just need to think if we want more chickens and if we want a bigger WIR..............
