Charlottechicken
Very interesting as per usual. No Omlet though Well, I couldn't find them anyway. Plenty of other chicken stands though. Lots of stuff on bees too. RHS Marquee was lovely, and lots of painted metalwork on sale outside, very cheap as well. Bit more about my day***here***
sparkysmum
Claire, looks like you've had a real fab day out. I love your "Diary of a Penny pincher"! I really have to cut down some how esp on food shopping - do you have hints/tips.Where do you get your ideas Alli xx
Charlottechicken
Thank you! I'm no expert but I'd say, shop around, including pound shops as they do have things like Ovaltine for less than supermarket own brand, buy good quality meat but eat less of it, know where the reduced shelves are in the food shops, and watch your portion sizes. Oh, and don't buy what you don't need
Griffin
We're going on Sunday. We always go on the last day because from around 3pm onwards most of the stalls start reducing stuff and we get lots of bargains
The Dogmother
I'm going on Sunday too A lovely friend of mine gets really reduced tickets through her company's social club. can't wait! Re portion sizes and food buying, this old maxim always works for me .... We're veterans in making do here and using up leftovers
Martin B
I went on Wednesday and it was amazing!! I wrote so much about it on my blog (link in signature). Had to do it in four parts as there were so many highlights. Like you said, chickens and bees featured heavily in the show gardens, displays and stands. Have a great day and I hope those of you going at the weekend have a superb time!! Take lots of pictures too like I did! Martin
Martin B
P.S Was also dissapointed at lack of Tub Trug (the actual company/brand), Omlet and Wiggly Wigglers... Tut Tut! Martin
Griffin
We had a great time yesterday. Bought some fantastic new plants, some I'd never heard of before. I had them all planted out in the garden by 9.30 this morning The best thing I bought though was chocolate wine. Yummy!
The Dogmother
Had a wonderful time too.. so much to see and so many lovely flowers to smell... didn't see Monty though I thought you'd found me at one stage Griffin... a voice behind me said 'I'd recognise that backside anywhere Claret' (I was bending over at the time), it was a friend who lived near here though. Griffin
How rude! I saw Monty when he was up on stage but I was being harassed by a five year old who needed the toilet for the 397th time so couldn't stop to listen
MedusA
I went on Wednesday and it was amazing!!I wrote so much about it on my blog (link in signature). Had to do it in four parts as there were so many highlights. I was there Wednesday, Friday and Saturday! Why so many times? Well we (Court Lane Allotments) were competing in the Edible Patches competition. Our garden was the one with the mini beehive and pond that you pictured in your blog, Martin, and we were there to promote it. Sorry if I didn't get to speak to you. Not only did the Edible Patches display win a RHS Silver Gilt medal, but our garden was voted overall winner by the GWL visitors. We were presented with a commemorative engraved glass dish. Thank you to anyone who voted for us. You can see more about our garden and a slideshow of the build on our website Court Lane Allotments.
