Warm boot recommendations please

Hi guys. can you help. Pheobe laid her first egg last Saturday and then nothing since and her crown has gone back to pink, is this normal?

Not too sure as ive never had young birds but i have read that the eggs can be a little hit & miss when they first start laying.

Hi Sarah, I've had young birds and they do take a while to settle down into a pattern of laying. Make sure you are not giving too many treats because if they done eat their layers pellets and drink plenty of water they tend not to lay very well.

 

Greens are the best treats in the afternoons - I've grown lettuce that have gone to seed a bit so mine get a fresh lettuce when I get home from work and they love it - its also good for the yolk colour.

It takes a while for their egg-producing bits to get into the swing of things, so egg-laying can be a bit hit and miss for a while (a bit like us girls when we reach puberty)

 

I'm sure things will settle down soon, as she gets herself sorted!

Thanks guys, do you think I'm giving them too many treats. They have a tiny bit of porridge made with water, some sweetcorn and some mealworms everyday but they seem to be eating lots of layers pellets

Doesn't sound like too many to me Sarah. Mine get far more (very spoilt!) but still manage to get through plenty of pellets and lay like gooduns!
