speedqueen
Just wondered if these are poisonous to hens........ varigated Ivy and Leylandaii conifers? I have both near the coop and run so when i trim them some of it gets in there. I put a cover on the coop and clear away as much as i can but wouldnt want to think they may get poorly if they ingest any. Conifer is quite prickly! Is there somewhere that tells you what they CAN'T have? I know some folks say not to give them raw potato dont they? Please can someone point me in the right direction? thanks. Patricia W
Mine love eating the seeds and aphids off the conifer and have consumed most of a variegated ivy - and they are fine. In my experience, chickens avoid things that are poisonous.
Sam
Theres a list here Ivy is mentioned a few times, but tbh I think hens know what to eat and what not to eat
chickanne
We have a huge old conifer in a corner often fenced off for them to free range. They luv scratting about in the thick carpet of dry conifer leaves at the base - chicken heaven.
