Watch a Welsummer hatch - live online!

Recommended Posts

Not yet. I think the temp must be too low in the incubator as they are at least 24 hours behind those that were under the broody. Saying that, today is day 21. I'm sure I saw one of the eggs I had given up on turn slightly! Just have to keep the fingers crossed.

It has now

I can hear it chirping away inside the shell. Hopefully it won't be long now before it hatches, got another 27 Welsummer eggs waiting to go in as soon as.

Final count in the nesting boxes was 10 lively chicks, making a total of 11 hatched from 22 eggs, not bad for a first attempt.

Be sure to check out the chick's progress on the webcam.

Regards

It was out very quickly once the chick opened up the top of the egg. I looked in at 9:10pm to see how it was doing. It was was cutting round the top of the egg at that point. 15mins later and it was out at 9:25pm. Amazing. All my hatches have been under a broody, so I've never seen an actual 'hatch' before, just the end result.
