Wantchooks
I have tried to fit a bumper bit but am not sure how far up it is meant to sit in the nostril. Do the pincer bits sit in the lower part of the nostril, so that the bumper protrudes out, or should i have tried to hook it into the top part of the nostril, with the little side bars running down along the length of the nostril, so the bit is further into the mouth? Tried to look on the forum photos, but the ones I found were too small to see clearly. DH made me remove it as he felt it didn't look right.... hen seemed happy enough, but it did seem to stick out a lot when hooked into the lowest part of the nostril. That was hard enough, never mind further up
Patricia W
I found a good explanation with photos on an old thread. Try searching bumpa bits - or maybe a Mod can help you. It fits rather in the same way a bridle and bit fits on a horse. A good pair of circlip pliers are essential - and someone to hold the chicken ( I wrap them in a towel) whilst someone manipulates the pliers. Christian
Here you go- http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=22584 I found wrapping the hen in a towel really helped. And soaking the B B in hot water to soften it made fitting easier. Good luck.
