fluffyfeet
Hi all I was wondering if anyone out there works in school admin - the reason being there is a part time job going at my local Special School and it is listed as having a salary of £15,039-£16,830 per annum pro rata. It is for 16 hours a week, term time only. My query is that I know what pro rata is, but with it being term time only and only 16 hours a week, what the weekly or monthly wage would work out to. I anyone can shed any light I need an answer as quickly as possible as the cut off date is tomorrow. Thanks all. D x
sjp
pro rata means that if the salary stated is for a 37 hr week and the job is only for 16 hrs a week then you only get paid 16 hrs worth of the salary. if 15k a year works out to about £7. 40 ish a hour then 16 hrs a works out at about £118 before stoppages
Goosey Lucy
Term time only will mean 38 weeks not
fluffyfeet
There's my problem you see - are they working it over 38 weeks at 16 hrs or 52 weeks. HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPP!!!
Geoid
School admin work during school holidays too, not just during term time.
majorbloodnock
At the risk of stating the obvious, why not ask them. They'll be better disposed to anyone who does their homework anyway, so an initial contact can only help your chances, and it'll also give you the opportunity to find out other things as well, so ending up better prepared. If you like what you hear, you're then in a better position to properly personalise your CV and covering letter. If not, you've wasted almost nothing. Henchanted
Hi D, I've always understood it to mean the hourly rate if you worked 37 hours and over 52 weeks. So it doesn't matter how many actual hours and weeks you work, the rate is based on full time hours over 52 weeks. Therefor if salary is 15,000 full time then the hourly rate is roughly £7.80. So then you can work it out X 16 gives you (approx) £125 per week, for how ever many weeks you would do. So your annual income would be roughly (£125X38) £4,750 (plus your holiday entitlement which may be 4-6 weeks worth if its inline with other admin staff) It may not sound much but at least you will be able to enjoy your kids holidays with them and you can calculate how much you save in childcare costs if you had a job where you had to work most of those holiday weeks Good luck if you decide to go for it
Mrs Potts
We have term time only staff of 40 and 42 weeks per year. We pay them over 52 weeks, which means that they have the same amount coming each month, twelve months of the year. Sorry I can't give you hourly rates, though! bellekatz
It depends on your local aithority. I'm Term Time only and get paid for 39/52 weeks. I am also part time so get 26 hours based on a full time of 35 hours per week. It can make a huge difference so I would ask them to get an actual salary figure
