AlisonH
I too have new hens and for the first time I found them this morning curled up asleep, head under wing. My initial thought too was -is there something wrong. I'd be interested in replies too!
fluffy chick
Don't think it's anything to worry about. Mine drop off when they are sunbathing
Chortle Chook
I think that they sleep a bit more on hot days. At the mo. mine are sleeping out the warmer hours and come alive like crazy in the evening; digging, scratching & squawking for all they're worth
percy049
Mine always go to sleep outside the patio doors in the sun
gongladosh
mine snooze in when sunbathing (sometimes when dustbathing) if they're chicks, you'll probs find that they'll run around like mad, then pretty much collapse on the spot, have a couple of mins of sleep then be up and at it again. A bit like kittens...
daxigirl
My big girls like to have an after lunch nap on the back step if they're out or line up on the perch in the run, always after a lot of feather rearranging. The babies seem to like to curl up after a couple of hours action at a time. One of the Awfuls (still can't tell them appart let alone who's a him/her) was right over on it's side with it's long legs sticking straight out yesterday, I thought it had popped it . sim
Mine snooze in the day too! Usually in their dustbath (usually upside down...) or under the garden furniture.
Chucky Mama
Mine have regular snooze times. Usually they take it in turns to stand watch whilst the others snooze (they usually end up asleep too though )

Aaaah bless I thought the same about our Ginger the other day, she was under the boardwalk for hours - I had to open a tin of sweetcorn to find out if she was still alive as soon as she heard the dish rattle she came out like a feathery torpedo
