So, my OH has kindly taken 2 photos of each Silkie, I would like views on gender.

 

The Silkie club says that boys tend to have swept back head feathers and pronounced combs and wattles, whilst girls have pom pom hairdos. I am 80% sure on their genders now... Just want back up... Chicks 1&2 are now 20 weeks old, the others are 11 weeks old.

 

I have given them nicknames to assist.

My opinion, for what it's worth

 

Chick 1 & 2 are girls.

 

The others are girls apart from Cheeky although it's too early to say with 100% conviction!

I agree about the first 2 but not sure about others except cheeky who has a very k"Ooops, word censored!"bly comb. My 2 that I got at 12 weeks seem to be girls (16 weeks and no crowing) so try that holding and cheeping thing again They are lovely Debs and wish I could fit them in

They do sit on my hand quite nicely apart from cheeky and Sue. I'm going to try the toe measuring pigeon trick which according to an American poultry forum works for 90% of all silkies. If the first and third toes are the same length apparently they are girls, different lengths and they are boys

 

Not sure if I buy it, but worth a go

I think all girls apart from cheeky. The only one I'm suspicious of is Fat face - could also be a boy. Beautiful!

Hmmm - I want some more silkies.
