Soft egg laid in the garden

Recommended Posts

One of my four girls has late this afternoon laid a soft egg in the garden. None of the chickens have ever laid an egg in the garden, they are now just over a year old. They always lay in the cube. This also means one of them has laid 2 eggs today even if the second was a soft one. They normally free range from early afternoon until dusk, but it varies depending as and when I or OH is at home. Today they were only free ranging from @5pm for a couple of hours. Does anyone have any ideas about this? (cube purple)GNRGNRPPPP!eggbrown!!eggbrown!!eggspeck!!eggspeck!!eggcream! soft!!

They dont lay soft eggs in the nest box because some how they know it will be soft so lay else where. It's normal for them to lay more than one egg if they are soft. (Happened to me a few times.) Hopefully it's just a blip, and she should return to laying normal eggs tomorrow :D
