Chicken boarders

Does anyone have experience of a bare bottom chicken laying on the bars as opposed to the nest? Victoria our top girl in the pecking order (recent promotion) has a bit of a bare bottom...her friends have pecked some of her feathers out some months ago....she hasn't laid in the nest for several weeks now and the egg ends up being pushed through the bars. I have just started them all on nettex mineral powder to see if this makes a difference. Also wondering if her bare bottom might not like the straw and wondering about changing to another bedding...aubiose is available at my local equine/animal feed store.

I'd change to Aubiose, she may be finding that the mites in the straw are bothering her. I certainly wouldn't sit on a straw bale with a bare bum!

Thank you Dogmother. Putting it like that, i don't think I would sit on a bale of straw with a bare bot either!!

How do I know where to put a thread when I post it? Or is it the mod who does it? I don't want to do it wrong and upset you chief chickens!!
