Lorax
We got our columbine last September and she's the only one of our chickens to get ill so far - she was ill soon after we got her and made a great recovery after an antiobiotic jab. So. Since Tuesday she's not been right and I can't work out what it is. She hasn't laid. She doesn't sit on the nest. She does come for treats, but slowly. She is very sad looking. VERY dirty hind quarters. Comb looks floppy Flat feathers on her head Very 'heavy' looking, like her whole carriage is hanging down. Any thoughts? I can't see which are her poos to work out what they look like.
Egluntyne
Sounds as if she might have peritonitis. She needs to be seen by a vet I reckon.
Chucky Mama
Sounds horribly like peritonitis or a tumour to me I would get her seen before the weekend if I were you, she sounds very poorly and out of hours fees will be kicking in soon. Lorax
Thanks so much for asking . I've been trying to get on here since Saturday to update. We took her to the vet on Saturday morning. It's not peritonitis. The vet thinks she may have some bacterial intestinal infection. She's on ABs drops twice a day and also we're de-worming her (all of them). She is very much better! Thank you so much for all your help. I'll keep you posted in case our experience is also helpful to any others.
