Unsecure chicken perches

My Frizzle chicks will be 19 weeks old this weekend, and one of the 6 girls has just laid her first egg!

 

Should I start introducing layers pellets now, or wait until the others have started laying? And should I start giving them mixed grit, with oystershell, or keep them on the chick grit for now?

my first hatch this year started to lay at 18 weeks so that was when I switched them to layers

but that said Faith my speckled sussex is still on growers becuace she is still with her 2 youngsters and she's been laying for about 2 weeks now

If you still have Growers pellets left, I'd use them up. but they can go onto Layers now, as they are at POL.

It doesnt really matter where you go from here, either way is fine

Mine have just had to switch to layers as they are now in with the big girls, they are aged 21 and 17 weeks respectively.

Many thanks everyone. Think I'll finish off the remaining growers before switching them to layers.

 

Redwing, I can't believe how quickly the time has gone either! It really doesn't seem like almost 5 months since they hatched, and I am longing to hatch some more next year. Sadly though, I won the lottery chick-wise this time and only got one boy and six girls, so I'm not sure I dare push my luck and try again!
