I was listening to Steve Allen on LBC yesterday and he was talking about the Electoral Registration Form and how there is a box to tick to opt out of your details being sold on to people who buy copies of it from the council. Honestly I had no idea there was an opt out box. All these years I have just signed it and posted it back without even seeing that bit

I still haven't received mine, I wish they'd hurry up and send it through, I need to get on the electoral roll in my new house and I don't want to request a form only for the annual form to come through afterwards! I've been taken off the form at my nana's house so as of now I'm not registered anywhere!

I think the opt-out only came in about 5 years ago. I get enough cold callers even with it ticked

Hi All,

 

I asked at work (Council) and if you have e-mailed or posted in your form already, don't worry.

All you need to do is write to your council and inform them how the info. was supplied to them in the first place and ask for it to be adjusted to show the alteration so that you wish to be on the other list (opt out option)

This should not be a problem.

I've always ticked the opt out box. Haven't received this year's form yet though.
