jackian
I know that my girls have excellant hearing (They hear the rattle of the meal worms from 100 paces ) I know their eyesight is not good in the dark and i know about being able to see me whatever door I move to when they are in the garden ...But what about their sense of smell
gongladosh
not sure about their hearing but in terms of the eyesight, our eyes can pick up red, green and blue - chickens can pick up red, green, blue, lilac (apparently) and also movement. Hens can see in detail where we only see a blur...

Chortle Chook
Hey that's interesting. I'd always rather assumed that my chicens eyes were to them what my dog's nose is to him - i.e. very superior to ours but making their other senses lesser. They never seem to sniff at anything i.e. put their beak to something and then not eat it. They do however, clearly have sensitive beaks because they don't much like it when their beaks are covered in something like cottage cheese, and take great care to wipe their beaks clean. They can also peck at my hands gently (when they want to).
