Chainsaws and the chickens

Recommended Posts

Hi, I recently bought three chickens who are settling in nicely in the back garden. We have a group of tree surgeons coming in next week to do some major cutting in the garden, which is going to take most of the day.

I'm worried about the girls being scared of the noise and movement and was wondering whether I should lock them in their (unmoveable) coop, let them out to see what's happening, or put them in a large cardboard box with food and straw in the kitchen until the work's done.

Advice please!

Mine have put up with everything from mowing and strimming, to having half the garden dug up when a new patio was laid - as long as they are not in the firing line for any chips from the saw, they'll be fine. Oh - don't forget to save as much sawdust as you can for the run, it's great for them to scratch around in!
