Lewis
Have had Richard + Judy for 3 years now and they've raised their 3rd little Diamond Dove chick S/he's now a month old and have taken photos every few days - still hard to believe how fast they grow! 7 days old... 9 days old... 11 days old, next to egg for size comparison... ...and next to Mom... 18 days old... 29 days old and nearly fully grown!... We now have 5 of them and they still all live happily together. They've hatched a few more chicks in the past and have laid a lot of eggs but they crack them or kick them out when they get bored, then 'cos the chicks are less than the size of a 5p they get cold or parents can squash them really easily. They take it in turns to incubate the eggs and last night I saw they were on the nest again... sat on 5 eggs! Candled and 3/5 are fertile! May take a pair to Uni, still undecided, but any more that they hatch now will have to be sold!

They are extremley lovely. I have a bit of a thing about doves since my father in law died ( long story ) - such graceful, peaceful birds. Yorkshire Pudding
They are lovely. Richard & Judy must be very well cared for to be breeding so enthusiastically. Would you be allowed to have pets in your rented accommodation Lewis? Many landlords put a 'no pets' clause in the contract
Lewis
Shall let you know if they hatch Emma! Another friend is interested so sounds like there may be some good homes lined up if these eggs hatch Have been looking for a new cage for if I take a couple to Uni. Probably a smaller version of the Vision they're in now, really easy to clean and feed/water them... bit like an eglu for caged birds!? Theres nothing in the contract about pets but the landlord said we're allowed them... no dogs though! There were (pet!) rats in one of the rooms when he showed us around the house last year and he was fine with them. We weren't allowed chickens, hamsters and fish in halls last year but...
