ruxleyguy
I have recently purchased two silkies, a cochin and a gold top hen(silkie & Sussex X).I have noticed them sneezing (i think??) now and again, its a bit like a grunt with a shake of the head. Any ideas?? They are young hens POL (although no eggs yet) and they all came from the same breeder. should i be concerned? should i be giving any suppliments to help?? squiffs
hello. My silkies sneeze sometimes, I find that putting a bit of lifeguard tonic in their water does clear it up, and one of my silkies has a bollywood head wobble, I think this is just a little tic of hers though as she's otherwise in perfectly good health. Silkies tend to make some very strange noises - too - I love it, they sound like baby aliens. I've had them nearly 2 months and not an egg yet, but pure breeds don't lay as well as a hybrid and I'm thinking I'll have to wait til spring to have a softboiled silkie egg
chicken bark
If you are worried put a bit of Respite in their water for a few days. They may just have got a sniffle from the stress of the move or maybe you use different bedding. Hope they feel better soon.

chocchick
I wouldn't be concerned if they look otherwise healthy and their breathing isn't strained. Apple cider vinegar can help. They could be under the weather if new and may pick something up. I ended up giving my new ones good quality plain probiotic yoghurt mixed with bran as one of them had the runs. It is very stressful for them. The other things is, is it dusty-did you just put down bedding? Katy sometimes sneezes and she is nearly 6. It's not regularly though. coco
I give mine Respitew when they are a bit sneezy. Usually works wonders.
