Ruby's gone missing - now found!

Recommended Posts

Took the dogs out this morning and Ruby was doing her usual, in and out of the hedges, chasing pigeons. Then I realised I hadn't seen her for a few minutes, so started calling her. Waited a good half an hour, calling her and walking backwards and forwards along the path where she'd last been seen.

I came home in case she's found her way home - still no sign. Took the car and drove all around the field area, walked the field again, checked at home, drove around again, this time calling at each of the farms that cover that patch and giving them her details. Checked home again, walked back across the fields. :(:( Have to pick the boys up from school in a minute. I don't know what else to do. :(

She is chipped and tagged, I just hope she wanders into one of the farms looking for food and water - she'll be exhausted if she's been chasing pheasants all day, she doesn't know when to stop. I am so scared that she has exhausted herself and collapsed somewhere :(:(

Sorry to hear that Snowy, i hope that she's safe and comes back to you soonest. Might be worth just phoning around the local vets and the dog warden - they aren't overly thorough when scanning for chips and don't always pick them up

Fingers crossed that she comes back soon.

If it's any consolation, Cyrus managed to wriggle out of his collar and do a bunk just after I got him... daft saluki-eejit had me running all round the neighbourhood while he just ignored me and pitched up when he felt like it!

Well the police have been informed. I need to phone the dog warden in the morning. Numerous farms and villagers are on the lookout, posters have been posted. I did get one phone call from a chap who thought he might have seen her following a lady with two other spaniels (she would be looking for me with Candy) but

BUTBUTBUT! As I was typing I've had a phone call from the local gamekeeper who has found her! Phew! Off to collect her shortly :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

She is home, very hungry and thirsty and feet a little sore, but otherwise none the worse for wear  The gamekeeper caught her amongst his pheasants  Luckily he was very nice about it, is obviously a dog lover himself and was very pleased to have been the one to find her. I knew she would chase pheasants if seen but there are never that many. He said thousands had just been released ready for the shoot - poor dog didn't know which way to turn, just kept following one after the other!:oops:

I have one exhausted dog this morning! Normally her and Candy race round in the morning, wrestling and getting under everyones feet. She is curled up on the settee fast asleep - hopefully she will come round as the day goes on.

I've checked her over, no obvious injuries, but her mouth is a bit puffy in the corners. I can't see any cuts or grazes so will keep an eye on it. It didn't stop her eating so can't be too bad :?
