Omletina Kyckling
This Tuesday's Hairy Biker's Programme (9pm BBC2) is filmed in my area.....it's centred in Slaithwaite which is the village at the bottom of the valley from where I am (and where I used to live, by the canal), but they also film in my neighbour's house!! Her name is Sharon and she has dark brown hair! It's quite funny actually because the evening they filmed at her house, me and Couperwife were sat outside in my garden, quaffing wine (as we often do!!!) and we managed to miss the Hairy Bikers, on their bikes, and a full film crew turning up, filming and leaving!!! Couldn't believe it when I heard the next day! I saw them several times after that around the valley, filming. So if you want to see some lovely Yorkshire countryside and plain speaking folk, tune in!!!

Omletina Kyckling
....................for anybody who used to watch "Where the Heart is", the drama about the district nurses, Slaithwaite is the fictional "Skelthwaite" in the programme.....they also used to film lots of "Last of the Summer Wine" in Slaithwaite and surrounding hills, as Holmfirth became too touristy!! Reikiranf
It rather begs the question just how much wine did you quaff?
Sam Palmer
They also came and filmed where I live AND Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also visited the Day Centre on the same day. I knew nothing about either until I read about it in the local paper. You can miss all sorts going on right under your nose....
Cate in NZ
Oh, Slaithwaite is lovely, such a pity I'm unlikely to watch that show (as far as I'm aware it's not shown here). One of my oldest (as in duration of friendship- we went to primary school together) & dearest friends is a dairy farmer in Slaithwaite..... if you get doorstep milk deliveries it could well be from my friends cows!! I know they have a thriving local milk round. I do love Yorkshire though......even though I was actually brought up in Lancashire.

Egluntyne
I do love Yorkshire though......even though I was actually brought up in Lancashire. Same here. I was all fired up to volunteer, having watched the programmes, but of course, they have a different system here. Cheap and frozen no doubt. Snowy
I don't believe it! I'm just watching it and said to hubby, that lane looks just like where Omletina lives!!
Omletina Kyckling
I don't believe it! I'm just watching it and said to hubby, that lane looks just like where Omletina lives!! That's cos it was!!! Well recognised!! The bit where the Sally Ann woman got stuck on the cobbles was right below me and my garden wall was alongside her.....surprised a hen wasn't peering down at her. When they were down by the canal where the centre was they kept going past my house on the canal(which I used to live in but now rent out) Further coincidence, Sally Ann used to be my tenant and was a bit of a wild child!! Mrs Clegg the outspoken old lady lived next door. Sharon whose tea loaf won is my neighbour now!!

Snowy
It was a great episode, lovely to see familiar places - even if only fleetingly familiar for me!
Egluntyne
Egluntyne, Fluffyfeet and Couperwife will remember the steep bendy cobbles cos they walked down and back! I do indeed. My thighs are still aching and it must have been 3 months ago. Have sky plussed the programme so will be shrieking at it later.

Cate in NZ
I could record it onto a DVD and post on to you if you'd like it? Oh, thank you Omletina, that is such a kind offer. But I couldn't expect you to post anything over here, besides, unfortunately, we have a different DVD system, NZ are on a different region to UK ones & I'm not sure what the difference is, but it does mean that most UK dvds won't play over here. Thanks again for your kindness though.
