sabidtech
Hello all, this is my first post. Today I picked up my 4 hens for my Eglu. I wanted to ask what time should I open the coop door in the morning. I usually leave the house at 0730 - would this be too early??? Thanks. gongladosh
Welcome to the forum! 7:30 should be fine - they won't come out if it's too dark, they'll wait for it to be light first...
sabidtech
Thanks - as a rule do they wake up when the sun rises or do other factors come into play?
jackian
Congratulations and welcome I open mine at 7 each morning and they trot out straight to the food , not even a good morning ,just like my OH They don't like the dark so that will be fine. in the light mornings they will want to be out at 5am. The same in the evenings as soon as the sun goes down they will tuck themselves up till morning. Good luck and enjoy.
memphisto
I open mine at 7am, they give me a little coo and then are off free ranging! They go to bed at 7:15pm on the dot by their own accord!
JanTheDiver
I never close mine unless it is -10 degrees, but mine seem to go into the run about 06:45 at the moment. As long as they have access to a fox-proof run they will be fine.
