I have had my two lovely girls GNRPP for just over two years now. The really love each other and live happily in their eglu. Their eglu run leads into a secure enclosure (via a little tunnel) which is about 15 foot square so they can scratch about in there all day. I would like to increase my flock and thought about getting a couple of bantams (thinking that two more hens would be a bit crowded in the eglu). I have a newly converted plastic dog kennel and a small run set up ready to do a very careful introduction, but would be grateful for advice about this please. Should I go for the bantams, if so, which breed would be good, or risk overcrowding with two more hens. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds like a great set up!

I'd probably get 2 full sized chickens, as it can be difficult introducing bantams to hybrids, but it sounds like you have your introduction method all well planned out  Some people have introduced bantams to hybrids with success, whereas others have ended up with separate flocks.

I've recently had 4 big girls living in an eglu and they are all fine, sometimes even looks like there is room for more!

Good luck whatever you decide :D

Hello,

We're having a similar dilema really. OH wants some Peking Bantams but we have 5 hybrids and I am nervous about ending up with fights breaking out, so would be interested in your experience if you do get your bantams. At the moment, I'm trying to convince him to go for some ex-batts but he's not having any of it.
