Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Poor Dora has lost her tail feathers, she is moulting bless her. Looks so odd though. She was rescued spring 2010 and didn't appear to moult last year, making up for it this year though!

The chicks I hatched is summer only have two tail feathers each as they are going through their final moult- so I can imagine what Dora must look like

I know what you mean; Bessie has lost her tail too (she is moulting). She does look very odd. Can't wait till she's back to her big beautiful self again

Have you noticed a change in the pecking order?

She used to be first out of the coop with Bilbo the cockerel but now is 5th or 6th out behind Bilbo, Baggins, Hetty, Livy and the sometimes is behind or infront of one of the Aracuna boys!

Dilys has lost a few tail feathers now, feather are thinning out on her tail.

 

Definaely seen a pecking order change, she was top hen, now she's quite quiet and reserved and steers clear of the others who aren't moulting but she's being very friendly with me and is loving being stroked and fussed.

 

She was feeling sorry for herself earlier and came in the shed whilst I was cleaning the feeders and she was helpin herself to mealworms and corn!

She is definitely grumpy!

Bessie is grumpy too She won't let me near her She's a bit "skittish", very jumpy and crouches at every noise - won't crouch for me though - she just runs away She's looking very bedraggled now - hope this moulting finishes soon

Does anyone know how long it takes for feather regrowth ? My Nugget is very sorry looking with no tail too !
