Sam
Hi, I saw on the Omlet shop that they sell this thing that goes into a waterbutt, so the chickens have a constant supply of water. So is rainwater that comes off my WIR roof into the water butt ok to refill the chickens drinker with? (Just checking as the amount of times the chickens escape when I have my hands full carrying their water from the other end of the garden )

Space Chick
having seen the hideous muddy puddles that my girls favour at times, I wouldn't worry about a water butt
debsygooch
HI Spacechick = I'm with you on that. My ladies prefer stagnant puddles and water in the planter drip trays over any clean glug water. It doesn't matter that I've srubbed the glugs until they are almost new looking they soon end up flicking mud into them to create nice tasty "brown" water. Redwing
Some of my lot have waterbutt water but I do clean the waterbutts out reasonably often and the downpipes have old (clean) tights on the end which act as a filter I wont give waterbutt water to chickens under 12 weeks though
