Leaving egg-laying abilitiy, what are people's favourite type of chicken, in a purely aesthetic sense? My Dad used to breed them so I am a bit bias but mine has to be the Dutch Bantam, so regal!

 

What are your thoughts??

At the moment it has to be my Barbu' d uccle bantams, they are so friendly.

I have too many favourites So if you will permit me here are a couple

 

Bantams...............has to be my mille fleur sablepoots, so pretty, friendly too.

 

Big girls................I love my Scots Dumpies for their shape, size & gentleness, but also my faverolle for her gentleness & the way she lets the others coorie in at night

 

I loved my ex batts. They will always be special, their robustness, inquisitiveness & lovely nature.

 

I think if I had them silkies would quickly become favourites, but our horrible winters mean that I probably wont have them.

I only have 3 girls , 2 and 1 ,I don' know of any others to compare They all have their own way of letting me say to them "your my favourite"

Florry a is the nosy one always chatting to me and trotting around when I go into clean their coup ,she always has to be there,chatting away as if to say "You missed a bit". The other 2 don't care.

Poppy is the quiet one and the follower, she copies the other two what ever mischief they get up to.

Clover is the madam and tut tuts when the others are getting into mischief and she reminds me of a school mistress strutting up and down...I would love more but have not got the space...but you never know.

In bantams I like pekins, they are so cute and cuddly. And LF it has to be Favorelles! They are just so funny!

Out of my mixed bantam flock (Light sussex/pekins/araucana) I like my Lavendar araucana bantam best because she is so friendly and inquisitive and the blue eggs are a novelty.

I like the colour too.

My cream crested Legbar is such a funny hen with masses of character, but for looks I love Wyandotte's bantams, so pretty and a lovely shape. Then a Pekin in a hurry is very comical!
